Asparagus just has so many health benefits it really should be added to our regular diet.  Asparagus can detoxify our system, and has anti-aging, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory functions.  It also can help prevent osteoporosis and osteoarthritis and can help reduce the risk of heart disease.  Did we mention is also considered an aphrodisiac (yes, because of its shape it is considered a psycho-physiological aphrodisiac)?

Leeks are a slightly more refined cousin of the onion family and are known to inhibit cholesterol production. It has quite a long list of balanced vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and flavonoids, but you’ll probably only noticed the delicate flavor layer it gives our warm Rebuild soup.

We are hot for chili peppers!  That’s because chili peppers are extremely healthy for you.  They help fight migraine and sinus headaches, help prevent sinusitis and help relieve congestion. They also help lower high blood pressure, protect your heart, fight inflammation, soothe intestinal diseases and help you burn fat and lose weight.  They have loads of vitamin C and studies have shown that capsaicin, the chemical that makes chili peppers hot, not only causes your tongue to burn, it also helps drive prostrate cancer cells to kill themselves.  Bring on the heat.

Did you know that organic hot peppers are one of the most nutritious foods you can eat.  The poblano pepper, dark green in color, like the red hot chili pepper, helps fight migraine and sinus headaches, help prevent sinusitis and help relieve congestion.  They also help lower high blood pressure, protect your hear, fight inflammation, soothe intestinal diseases and help burn fat and lose weight.  They also have loads of vitamin C and studies have shown that capsaicin, the chemical that makes them hot, not only causes your tongue to burn, but it also helps drive prostate cancer cells to kill themselves.  Now, that’s what we call HOT!

Paprika powder, made from aromatic bell peppers, not just spices up a dish and adds to its warm color, but it also packed with numerous nutrients, including high levels of vitamin C, A, E and K.  It is also loaded with carotenids, iron, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus which help purify blood and give a boost to heart health and more.  Paprika gets its hotness from the chemical capsaicin which studies have shown to help drive prostate cancer cells to kill themselves.  That’s the power of paprika!

Thyme is a popular herb that not only adds flavor to recipes, but it also has several health benefits associated with it.  Those benefits include relief from respiratory and gastrointestinal problems, improved mental acuity and protection against cancer-causing toxins.  Thyme also contains essential oils that have powerful antioxidant properties.  It is a little known that some herbs, such as thyme, contain greater concentrations of antioxidants than some common fruits or vegetables.  Thyme has also been shown to be helpful in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, skin diseases and muscle cramps.  Because it may be impractical to include any herb in your meal plans that often, the easiest way to enjoy the benefits of thyme is to enjoy it in our soups!
